Welcome to
Hope Church Thetford
Hope Church is a church that believes in Jesus
Welcome to our church, we really hope you’ll find family and friendship here.
We are a growing Christian church based at the heart of Thetford in Norfolk. The church family is made up of a friendly, dynamic and multicultural bunch of people, who have a passion to share the love of Jesus in this town.
We’d love to see you at one of our Sunday morning meetings. You’ll be met with a friendly smile, a great cup of coffee, and a nice croissant!
We offer translation from English into Portuguese.

Meet the team

Nigel Worth – Lead Elder
Nigel is married to Glenda and they have two grown up children, Jenny and Phil. Nigel is a cricket enthusiast, and an avid follower of Crystal Palace FC (we don’t hold that against him!) Glenda is a Geordie girl through and through and loves a good Stottie! Nigel and Glenda both served on the staff team at Kings Church Braintree. They moved to Thetford in 2011, and are excited to be here. God has given them some very clear promises for Hope Church Thetford, and they know it is a privilege to be part of what God has for this beautiful town.
What We Believe
We Believe
The creator of the universe loves us, cares for us and longs to be in a living relationship with us. And he loves you and wants to know you too.
We Believe
God’s heart was broken when sin entered the world. Adam and Eve had chosen to look to themselves rather than upon God’s glory. God could no longer be in relationship with his beloved human race.
We Believe
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3v16.
We Believe
Jesus came to save us from our sins. He came to save me and he came to save you. He paved the way for us back to our heavenly Father. Every wrong thing that you and I have ever thought, said or done was completely erased, gone forever. It died with Jesus when he died a terrible death on the cross for you and I.
We Believe
What was given to us instead, was new life. A completely free, gracious gift that not only means we can live life to the full here on earth, but we are promised eternal life in Heaven with our Father too.
We Believe
Jesus came so that we can have life to the full. A life free from addictions, worry, doubt, and fear. A life that is full of joy, a life that is full of Hope.
We’d love to explore this further with you. Come along to one of our Sunday meetings or join us at the Alpha course to find out more.
Life Groups
With the COVID-19 restrictions being lifted we are really keen to reconnect. We’ve launched our new mid-week groups where we are meeting up and doing a variety of activities. Everyone is welcome.
“And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common.” Acts 2v44
There is a beautiful picture that is painted in Acts 2 of a church that lives together in community, shares everything together and praises God together with a gladness of heart. We read that God performs many signs and wonders amongst them and continually adds to them. This is what we desire for our church!
Our mid-week gatherings are a fantastic way to get connected and form deep, meaningful friendships that encourage one another in our Christian walk.
Our Re-connects take place at different days of the week so there are opportunities for everyone to take part.
For more information speak to Nigel on a Sunday or get in touch via the “Contact Us Page” section or Facebook.
Hope Kids – Children’s Ministry
“But Jesus said: Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to me: for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19v14
At Hope Church we love children and families and they are at the centre of all we do. It is so important that our vision and values are reflected in our children’s work and that our children develop good, supportive friendships that encourage them to follow God throughout their childhood and adolescent years.
We’re always looking for new ways to expand as a church and as we grow we are looking to develop a youth work.

We are back! The lockdown is officially over so our Friday Night Gatherings will resume as of Friday, 4th December 2020 and will carry on until further notice. We are unable to return to our usual venue for now but will update everyone when we have news about that. The service will also be streamed live on Facebook so if you can’t attend just log in and join us online. We will obviously be sure to continue following the government guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19 (social distancing – bubbles of max of 6 and no bubbles mixing, everyone wearing masks, hand sanitisers made available and temperature checked on arrival). Attendees are required to register in order to make test and trace possible.
We look forward to being together again.
Notice Board
Since early 2018 Hope Church has been partnering with the Keys Community Detox Project, based near Brighton, to help those in our community addicted to drugs or alcohol to find freedom.
Jesus announced that he had come to “proclaim good news to the poor….freedom for the prisoners” and we believe that his church is authorised to continue his ministry today.
The pathway to freedom is a partnership of medical expertise provided by the Project, in collaboration with local GPs in Thetford, and spiritual ministry which is handled by a team in our church.
We currently run our weekly recovery group on Tuesdays Morning at Fincham’s Farm. For more information please contact us using our contact form.
We welcome all support for this ministry area.
